Wigan Rugby Union Club is building on its growing reputation as a pioneering community rugby club by developing its already extensive facilities to incorporate a new state of the art community health and fitness club.
Thanks to successful grant application to BIFFA the club have been able to concert an existing unused squash courts facility (built in the 1970’s) into a community health and fitness facility to include a modern health and fitness suite on the ground floor, with an upper floor added to include an aerobics studio and office space.
The development provides a very affordable, local and accessible facility not just for existing members but also for its new health and fitness membership available.
Club President Frank Morgan said: “We have always been a community-focused club and promoting the health and wellbeing of our fellow Wiganers is part of the whole philosophy of the club. That is why we support many local partnerships and why we are working to be an active member of the Wigan Borough Healthy Stadia and Sports Club Network.”
“The gym is just one example of the clubs determination to not only excel at rugby buy to support the NHS and local authority in their efforts to improve the health and wellbeing in Wigan”.
