Increasing Sports Participation

Increasing Sports Participation

Wigan Sports Development have recently developed a partnership with the PCT funded ‘Wigan Borough Healthy Stadia and Sports Club Network’ project in order to develop and launch further opportunities for clubs signed up to the accreditation. Wigan Sports Development have two key projects targeted at increasing participation for adults, the Active Women project for 16-25 year old women and the Back to Sport programme for male and females aged 16+ years.

If your club would like to increase the number of adult members or form a new team/session, and you have an exciting new idea in order to achieve this, then this could be the opportunity for you to turn your idea into a reality.

Funding will be available for support with facility hire costs, training of volunteers/coaches, payment for coach education courses, the purchase of new equipment or any other project costs that your club may require. In addition to this Sports Development will be able to assist with the marketing/promotion of your new project.

Sports Development have a range of coaches qualified in a number of areas, meaning we are able to offer sports activities, dance and fitness based classes.

If your club wishes to apply for support from Sports Development please contact gemma@wiganhealthystadia.org.uk or speak to a member of the adult sports team on 01942 404982 to arrange a meeting with one of the adult sports officers.
