Wigan Borough Healthy Stadia and Sports Club Network Conference

Wigan Borough Healthy Stadia and Sports Club Network Conference

On Thursday 21st June we will welcome delegates to our conference aimed at local sports stadia/sports clubs and potential partners from the NHS and public, private, voluntary and third sectors. This event will introduce the audience to the Wigan Borough Healthy Stadia and Sports Club Network and demonstrate the current provision within the borough.

The conference attended by over 60 delegates will feature presentations from sports clubs including Wigan Athletic and Leigh Miners Rangers ARLFC, and will look initially at the health profile of the borough and then identify how the network aims to work to help improve this.
The aims and objectives of the event are as follows:

  • To celebrate the success of existing healthy stadia activities and programmes and share examples of good practice.
  • To launch the network in the Wigan Borough
  • To explore the potential opportunities for partnership working between the NHS, sports clubs, sports stadia, private, third and voluntary sector and other stakeholders in order to develop and agree shared objectives.
  • To explore the specific opportunities and challenges for sports clubs around improving health and well-being.
